Australian Federation Concert // Wigmore Hall

"Golden soprano Natalie Christie, Wagnerian mezzo Liane Keegan, plaintive tenor Richard Edgar Wilson and heroic baritone Jeffrey Black sang as quartets, duets and solos through Brahms's 18 Liebeslieder Waelzer with chivalrous deference to one another and an easy balance. Piers Lane and Leslie Howard sat bottom to bottom on the piano stool and supplied the four-handed accompaniment. It was all more genial and civilised than Neighbours.

Christie, especially, has a voice of youthful, delicious beauty. Her charming performance of Malcolm Williamson's settings of six songs from RL Stevenson's A Child's Garden brought the house down. It was the best thing in the concert."
